ART DIRECTION PROJECTS

TINY REALMS

I recently art directed a mobile real time strategy game called Tiny Realms. I was responsible for the over all vision and look and feel. This game was developed on a very tight deadline of 6 months along with a small budget. So it was a challenge to maximize the visual targets while keeping costs low. I designed all of the characters, buildings, backgrounds, UI and did most of the major UX components for major features. Most of the fully rendered images were done by Derek Stenning and Mike Deas under my direction. Please feel free to download it from the link below!

FARMVILLE: ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE

English Countryside was the first of Farmville's many expansions. Farmville at this time was averaging 33 million DAU and we were pushing out thousands of assets a month. I art directed this project remotely developing the visual themes, content and branding as well as developing new technologies with the lead programmer to push the visuals of the game much further by introducing landscapes into the game.

FARMVILLE: LIGHTHOUSE COVE

Lighthouse Cove was the second expansion that Farmville did. It was pushed out in 6 weeks with a total re skin of the game. We once again pushed the limits of the engine and managed to get much more detail into the landscapes. This expansion won the company innovation award and introduced scenic buildable assets such has the cove in this expansion.

FARMVILLE: MISTLETOE LANE

This was a much later expansion that came in two segments. A Halloween town that you can see silhouetted off in the distance that lead you to this holiday town that had another very large scenic buildable incorporated into game play.

FARMVILLE

For the period of about 8 months I was performing Associate Art Director duty's. I managed all the out sourcing for the game which was over 1000 assets per month or more. I was also doing roughly 90% of all the internal art reviews as well. I was doing this all remotely with the odd visit down to San Francisco.
